Sichuan Chili Oil (四川辣油)

foodopia:

Ingredients for Sichuan chili oil

Sichuan Chili Oil (四川辣油)

四川辣油 (Sìchuān làyóu)

辣 (là) means spicy and 油 (yóu) means oil! Chili pepper is 辣椒 (làjiāo)

四川 (Sìchuān) is famous for the 花椒 (huājiāo) and 辣椒 (làjiāo) grown in the area.

花椒 (huājiāo) is basically a tongue-numbing peppercorn. It’s not hot or spicy but it’ll make your tongue numb.
